    This is beyond ****** annoying

Just replace the hardware and get it over with - what are your developers actually trying to fix???

they said they replaced the hardware - just to replace it a few days later again - or maybe they never did - and then the whole process just repeats

I cant add domains, delete domains etc etc

It's frustrating that things always time out, and working on it is like watching oil paint dry! But what is more frustrating is that we cannot be told when it will be working properly, I have lost so much time it's beyond a joke!

    Evening guys,

I would like to inform you that huge maintenance is planned for Friday night. Unfortunately I do not have details as to what is going to be done but we are sure that this will solve the slugish SA Control Panel once and for all

Any updates as well as a resolution time will be posted on our status page

where did I hear that before - aahh yes ...

22 April 2009 "Regarding your query, our engineers upgrade the quad core and the ram of the local (SA) control panel."

6 April 2009 "There are currently high usage on the Control panel servers, that can cause this. We are currently planning a upgrade on the machine that should resolve the issue for good."

26 March 2009 "This is a know issue and therefore we have upgraded last night the hardware on server that the HELM Control Panel runs on. Please see http://www.webafrica.co.za/status/ (Resolved issues) We are confident that this will solve the performance and other issues."

20 March 2009 "We have not been fowarded with an ETA as yet though we expect the server to be up and running very shortly, the maintenance is also expected to resolve the slow server responses, random timeout errors etc"

20 March 2009 "We are setting up a new box with new hardware for the control panel. It will be up by early next week to resolve this. It seems to be happening when the box is on heavy load and as we have over 20 web servers constantly using it this is more then likely the cause."

and it goes on and on ...

Just how many times have the CP's server been upgraded or replaced? If you say never now, then support lied to us each and every time (and now again) on the otherhand if you did upgrade each time, you should maybe look for another hardware supplier

I can completely understand where you are coming from, being told that there will be updates run on the SA Control Panel server. However, these updates where in fact run and noticeable changes where seen

Saying this, the rise in domains that Web Africa is currently hosting is putting this server under extreme load. Again, I cannot give exact details but as it stands there will be software, hardware as well as script optimizations that are going to be rolled out with this maintenance

Both our engineers as well as our development teams have had this issue on high priority and we are all aware of the sluggish responses of the Control Panel, but I can assure you that every measure is being taken to counter act this

Is update run" (ran) the same as hardware upgrades, or are we talking patches here? Because support indicated upgrades not patches.

On another note maybe just shelf Helm 3 - which is not supported anymore (almost for 3 years now) for Helm 4?

ps. Patience at billing is testing my patience - I got a suspension notice after I paid, Mariet phoned me, answered me in an e-mail on this forum etc. what the bloody hell is going on?

    Default Helm Issues

We will be upgrading the hardware and software on the SA Helm control panel over the weekend.

Once the upgrade is completed, the SA Helm control panel speeds should be improved drastically and most HELM issues should be resolved.

As I am still getting time outs and feel like I am feel like I am watching oil paint dry when working with the local Helm Control I can only assume the work did not take place this weekend or it was not successful?

    Could someone please advise?

    Default Helm Issues

The new SA HELM server has been setup. We will be migrating all the data across tonight, this move should be seamless and the new SA HELM should be live tomorrow.

    Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay. We ran into some 32 to 64 bit compatibility issues this weekend during the migration attempt. Today we have worked out all the issues.

The Local Helm Control Panel is now on its new hardware. The old ip has been migrated over so the change will be seemless with regards to dns. Let us know if the new hardware shows a noticeable difference.

    Hi samusic,

If you could please log a support ticket regarding this and CC myself in the mail so I can investigate this further on our end (I presume you still have my email address?)
Apart from attempting to remove the domain, have you noticed a general speed increase on the Control Panel?

I will be in the office at 11am and will be able to look into this matter for you. I will contact you should I have further queries
Please expect a response from myself as soon as possible
