Well ive just tested the IS server now with an update, its sparatic at 4kb/s, its basically just downloading on the fly from the master content servers. Waste of time tbh.

... and in other news, the Steam Server team abandons their task and rushes off to resurrect the web-server - a casualty of hundreds of South Africans furiously refreshing their browsers, on forum thread #21567.

Any Update?
!!!THIS, IS, HYPERLINK!!! - SICKEST LOCAL COD4 FRAG VID EVER - "FRAG, DON'T LAG"
sigh
There's no answers... only updates on how wide WA 'interweb' connection is to Steam FTP site - and some noobs rumbling about bits and bytes, devide by 8, no mine's bigger than yours, etc...
I asked a couple of questions, waiting for it to be answered...
(JaredB, do you deliberately answer posts with nothing inside just to increase the number of Posts next to your avatar?)
Doubt it, pretty normal forum procedure to post comments like that when all the info is readily available.
The Steam threads that you've posted in already have all the information that there is, WA posts updates on how much has been transferred every now and then, that's it, you'll just have to wait like the rest of us.
I've just E-mailed the guy who wrote SteamWatch, where I added proper CIDR (IP address whitelist range) support. Unfortunately his E-mail address (ultimategrandson@internode.on.net) doesn't exist any more.
I've also modified it to ignore the port number and to simply kill the connections based on the IP address, but then my steam would only startup correctly like 1/100 times that I start it
My whitelist settings looked like follow:Code:<whiteList>
41.0.0.0/8

196.0.0.0/8

41.185.60.43

196.38.180.3
</whiteList>
How do I know if my steam downloads are indeed being attributed to my freezone bandwidth and not coming off my cap? My steam download setting is set to Africa zone. Couldn't see anything else re that.
45% of 31.79 GB ( 30 GB Fixed Cap + 1.79 GB of Freezone)
And I just download 2589.8MB from Steam today. So what did the other 1.2Gb count towards?
Anybody?
All you can do is take note of how much Steam is downloading and check that against your Free Zone usage.
