    Hi everybody.

Just to be ABSOLUTELY clear: we have nothing to do with limelight, limewire or anything along those lines. We do not make use of P2P networks to distribute patches.

The only thing you need to connect to Twilight is a TCP connection on port 6112. Quite simply send "\03" (on Windows, pressing Ctrl-C will send that sequence) via a Telnet connection and our software will drop you into a CHAT-mode login which performs a human readable challenge-response.

As Slobber says, users on WA local are unable to establish a connection to us at a TCP level. This is where the problem lies and not with international traffic. Telnet should give you all the debugging powers needed

Instead of pressing CTRL+C to initiate the text-mode communication on port 6112, you could simply press Enter "\0D" too.

Just a side note: the server runs on TCP port 6112 alone. The clients host their own games, which is classified as P2P traffic. The default port the games are hosted on is TCP port 6112 or usually within the 6110-6119 range.

The actual game hosting is NOT peer-to-peer. It follows the typical client-server model, except that the "server" is actually just a player. P2P implies that there is no central server. There are some tricks to reselect hosts in case the host drops, but it's actually just a client-server model.

Just to break it down plain and simple so there is no confusion:

Assume players A, B and C want to play a game of DotA.
Each of them join Twilight (TCP 6112).
A creates a game which appears on a game list.
B and C then join A's game (by connecting directly to A).

Once the game is started, Twilight could go offline and the game will continue because player A is the host at this point. As Pada mentioned, the actual game port (used by A for hosting) can be changed (6112-6119 are the "official" ranges) but the Battle.NET port is restricted to 6112.

    Hi guys,

No need to bump or nudge this topic - it is being given full attention and is unfortunately not so simple as just opening up a port

The network dump was not so helpful and we are trying alternative methods - We'll figure this out in due course and get you guys up and running soon.

Now what time do the Twilight admins go to bed? I was troubleshooting DOTA 2 days ago at 2am on the servers

I need some of the admins to host a game with me for testing purposes

Most nights you'll find Nitrate, saidin, myself or any of the other admin folk around till fairly late.

We can host a game for you, however the issue at the moment is connecting to the bnet server, not connecting to a host. The port is the same (TCP 6112), so if you fix the issue connecting to the bnet server it would probably connect the issue of connecting to a host.

The idea is to pickup the traffic and monitor exactly where the traffic is going - if you could maybe email a full list of IPs, ports ect that are needed that would also be helpful

    Thanks for you help guys!

Any updates to this issue as it's really killing my International cap. X_x The main reason I'm with WA is cause of your guyz' on-the-fly top-up options, but since I can't jam online using my local-only account, it's become too costly. :/

^ That's weird cause I'm still able to connect. Does it work using the International account (or any other account)?

If this is your 1st time logging onto battlenet, check out the following guide...

I can connect on an IS account and play fine, but neither my wadsl.unshaped nor wadsl.local can connect... it just hangs on 'Initiating connection to Battle.net'
