    They have successfully finished this and all services should be back to normal.

    The following notice has been UPDATED.

    ADDITIONAL: Please note that power reconfiguration maintenance on SAT3 that was supposed to take place on Saturday 6 February 2010 (0:01 to 04:00
    UTC) has been postponed.

    Telkom has advised that power reconfiguration was unsuccessful.

    Telkom will confirm a new maintenance date tomorrow afternoon after consultation with SAT3 devices product specialists, Alcatel.

    CAUSE OF PROBLEM: Telkom Maintenance
    SYMPTOMS EXPERIENCED: High Latency
    SEVERITY: Critical
    STATUS: Attending
    ATTENDING: Telkom Engineers
    ADDITIONAL: Please note that Telkom SA is conducting major maintenance on the shunt fault on Segment 14 of SAT-3, about 627 km from the ACC Beach Manhole. This maintenance will run from the 20-22 January 2010 and resume again on the 29 January to 01 February 2010 within the maintenance window
    (00:01 to 04:00 UCT). Due to this maintenance, there will be intermittent high latency to London UK and Paris for the duration of this maintenance.
    The latter will take place during and after the maintenance window.
